Ash K. Tewari, MBBS, MCh, FRCS (Hon.), DSc (Hon.), Chair of the Department of Urology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City and Director of the Center of Excellence for Prostate Cancer at the Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Center, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, one of the highest distinctions conferred by the institution. The honor recognizes individuals whose contributions have had a significant impact on medicine, surgery, education, and patient care internationally.
An internationally recognized leader in robotic and minimally invasive urologic surgery, Dr. Tewari has helped advance the surgical management of prostate cancer through innovations designed to improve cancer control while preserving urinary and sexual function. His work has contributed to refinements in nerve-sparing techniques, surgical planning, and patient-centered approaches to treatment. He has performed thousands of robotic prostatectomies and has authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications focused on prostate cancer, surgical outcomes, imaging, biomarkers, and precision medicine.

Since joining Mount Sinai in 2013, Dr. Tewari has led the expansion of the Department of Urology's clinical, research, and educational programs. Under his leadership, the Department has strengthened its multidisciplinary approach to genitourinary cancer care and advanced research efforts spanning early detection, translational science, and novel therapeutic strategies. The Department also expanded its community outreach by launching a prostate cancer screening mobile unit to bring screenings to those at highest risk.
Beyond his clinical and scientific contributions, Dr. Tewari is widely recognized for training and mentoring urologists from around the world, helping to disseminate advanced robotic surgical techniques internationally.
The Honorary Fellowship was presented during a diploma ceremony in Glasgow, recognizing Dr. Tewari's enduring contributions to urologic oncology and his global impact on improving outcomes for patients with prostate cancer.
