Azur Innovation recently launched PQtap, a mobile application designed to support the home monitoring of a range of urology conditions. The app is available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play and may be recommended by healthcare professionals to patients requiring regular urinary monitoring outside the clinical setting.
PQtap enables users to collect uroflowmetry-type data using a mobile device and a simple marked jug. Measurements are automatically stored on the device, allowing repeated data collection during normal daily activity. The app includes a plotting function and displays commonly used parameters, including flow rate (ml/s), time between voids (h), volume per hour between visits (dl/dt), and total urine volume over a 24-hour period (l), provided it is used at each void.
Frequent use of the app allows the collection of a full dataset by measuring flow parameter fluctuations over short or extended periods. This may provide clinicians with additional insight into a patient’s urinary patterns beyond single-point clinic measurements.
Data collected within the app can be shared with clinicians via email as a CSV file, enabling remote review and supporting follow-up consultations. This functionality may be useful for monitoring symptom progression, assessing response to treatment, or informing decisions around further investigation or management.
According to Azur Innovation, PQtap is intended to complement existing diagnostic and monitoring pathways rather than replace in-clinic assessment. For urology teams and specialist nurses, the app offers a straightforward option to support patient-led data collection and ongoing monitoring between appointments.
