Mermaid Medical, in collaboration with Fujifilm, recently delivered the first session of a new CPD-accredited training course focused on Local Anaesthetic Transperineal Prostate (LATP) biopsy procedures. Hosted at the advanced Fujifilm House in Bedford, the workshop welcomed healthcare professionals for a full day of hands-on learning and expert-led teaching.
Designed in alignment with NHS England’s LATP framework, the course provided a comprehensive overview of both the theoretical and practical aspects of LATP biopsy. Topics included anatomy and physiology, MRI and ultrasound interpretation with emphasis on PiRADS scoring, clinical safety, LA toxicity, and specimen handling.
Attendees engaged in practical training in ultrasound scanning and aseptic biopsy techniques using the TP Pivot Pro™, with guidance from experienced clinicians. The course welcomed participants at all levels of experience, from LATP newcomers to seasoned practitioners.
“We want more clinicians to feel confident in adopting LATP because it offers a safer alternative to the transrectal approach,” said Michelle, Account Manager and CPD Course Trainer. “It’s been fantastic to see that confidence build in just one day through training and guidance”.
Feedback from the first session was very positive, particularly regarding facilities, presenters, and the guided hands-on training. With several sessions already scheduled, Mermaid Medical is committed to continuing its support for professional development in urology.
